Participant Agreement and Study Funds Acknowledgement
Please read this agreement before your session begins. It explains how the study funds work, what we ask of you, and what happens if a session isn't completed. Ask the moderator if anything is unclear.
The short version
- We provide the funds. You never deposit your own money.
- Stay for the full session, play as directed, and share your gameplay history afterward.
- Complete the study and you keep your ending balance, whatever it is. Funds lost during play are never owed back.
- If you leave with the funds without completing the study, the unused funds must be repaid.
Parties and purpose
This agreement is between 1000655860 Ontario Inc., operating as BetLab Market Research Corp. and SignalPanel (“we” or “us”), and the participant named below (“you”). You are taking part in an in-person product testing study of licensed Ontario casino apps.
We may use independent contractors, recruiters, moderators and service providers to help run the study. They act only on our behalf, are not parties to this agreement, and have no personal obligation or liability to you under it. The Study Funds are provided by us, and any claim relating to the study or the Study Funds must be made against 1000655860 Ontario Inc. only.
Eligibility
By signing, you confirm that you are 19 or older, live in Ontario, hold valid government-issued photo ID, are not self-excluded from any gambling platform, and are opening any casino account in your own legal name.
Study funds
We will provide you with the amount listed below (the “Study Funds”) to deposit into your casino account. Study Funds are provided only for gameplay during the session, as directed by the moderator.
Your commitments
To complete the study, you agree to:
- remain for the full session (about 2 hours) unless the moderator ends it early;
- use the Study Funds only for the gameplay you are directed to do;
- not withdraw, transfer or cash out the Study Funds before the session ends; and
- share your gameplay history for the session with us within 48 hours after it ends.
Compensation
When you complete the study, your ending casino balance is your compensation and is yours to keep. It may be higher or lower than the Study Funds, and it may be $0. You are never required to repay Study Funds lost through directed gameplay during the session.
If the study is not completed
If you leave the session early, withdraw or transfer Study Funds before the session ends, use them for anything other than directed gameplay, or do not provide your gameplay history, the study is considered incomplete.
In that case, you agree to repay the Study Funds, less any amount shown in your gameplay history as lost through directed gameplay, within 14 days of our written request.
If the amount is not repaid within that time, it becomes a debt owed to us. We may refer it to a licensed collection agency or recover it through other lawful means, including Small Claims Court, and reasonable collection costs may be added where the law allows.
If you need to leave early for a genuine emergency, tell the moderator. We may, at our discretion, agree to a different arrangement in writing.
Gambling risk
This study involves real-money casino play. Outcomes are based on chance and are not guaranteed. You may stop playing at any time by telling the moderator, but stopping early is treated under section 06.
No encouragement of continued gambling
We do not encourage gambling outside of this study. Your participation ends when the session ends and your gameplay history is shared. We recommend you close your account or delete the casino app afterward, and you can use the app's self-exclusion and deposit limit tools at any time. No future studies, rewards or payments depend on you continuing to gamble.
Your information
We collect your name, email, phone number and your gameplay history for this session. Your contact details are used only to run the study and to administer this agreement. Your gameplay history may be shared with gaming companies. We never ask for your casino password, ID documents or banking details.
Electronic signature
Typing your full legal name below and submitting this form is your electronic signature. It has the same effect as a handwritten signature under Ontario's Electronic Commerce Act, 2000. You may ask the moderator for a copy of this agreement.
